Allah is the One who needs no one. He does not need our obedience, nor does He need our worship. Our deeds of worship are in reality, completely worthless to Him. Yet, Man performs worship, as if he is doing a favour for His Lord!
Because Man does not see that his good deeds are for his own benefit, he is reluctant to do good, and because he doesn’t see that his evil acts bring difficulties upon himself, he persists at it!
Shaykh Mehmet cites the example of two people who had heart attacks recently, because they refused to quit smoking. Only when faced with death, did they realize that Allah’s Command to leave such evil practises (ie to quit smoking) was for their own good, and the good of those around them. Similarly, evil does not hurt Allah, it hurts the wrong-doer and those around him, hence the need to stop evil, either by force, or by advising, or by hating such defiance, in our hearts. 6) permission to visit Maulana in Lefke. Continue reading
In this Suhbah, Shaykh Mehmet reminds us to treasure the acts of Worship that are limited to just a few days each year, such as the recital of the Eid takbir, performing Eid prayers and the Sacrifice.
He recounts the oft-told story of how the devil tried to sway Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) and his family, and revealed a lovely conversation, filled with beautiful lessons, that took place between Sayyidina Ibrahim (as) and the knife which refused to cut Nabi Ismail (as).
Shaykh Mehmet also rebuts animal-rights activists who attempt to pin a label of barbarism on the act of Kurban, and he concludes by sharing a very vital piece of advice, to all those who perform the actual act of slaughtering. Continue reading
From the ‘Scent of Saintliness’ Ramadhan Series of Suhbahs by Hajjah Amina Adil (late wife of Maulana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani The Story of Nabi Musa (as) and Qarun When Sayyidina Musa (as) went up Mt. Sinai, he told his people he … Continue reading
Maulana Shaykh Nazim’s elder son, and full Khalifah on Golden Chain, Shaykh Muhammad Adil, also affectionately known as Shaykh Mehmet, tells this fascinating tale, to explain the amazing attributes of the Friends of Allah.
With his easy and humorous story-telling style, Shaykh Mehmet beautifully illustrates the difference between Shariah and Tariqah, Scholars and Saints, Knowledge and Wisdom. A Gem of a Tale indeed! Continue reading
This year, Zulhijjah begins on the 16th or 17th October 2012. The Prophet (saw) said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days. One fast during these ten days is equal to the fasting of one complete year, and the worship of one night during this period is equal to the worship in the “Lailatul-Qadr”. (Tirmizi). Let us learn more about these blessed 10 days! Continue reading
In the light of the violent protests worldwide against the film ‘Innocence of Muslims’, Maulana speaks about where we have gone wrong by such barbaric behaviour. Not only have we portrayed Islam in the worst possible light – as a merciless beast, – we have also spread the filth of one shaytan’s act, from East to West. Worst of all, we have opened the Door to the harshest claim a Muslim can ever face on Judgement Day, upon ourselves by violating the rights of unbelievers – indeed, such a claim will take away the most precious jewel from your heart, leaving you in abject despair in the Court of Allah. Every Muslim must read this Suhbah! Continue reading
